The history of the painter residence is Hans Nowak's story.
The painter Hans Nowak , born 1922 in Halle/Saale, moved in 1962 to the countryside, to Voigtholz in the District of Peine. |
| His " Malerhof " had an impressive influence on the small village: an old Lower-Saxony farm house with studio, a modern-style outhouse and a chapel, which have become through Nowak's recreation of the Leonardo da Vinci's Supper and Raphael's Sistine Madonna furthermore one of the most popular excursion destinations within the Peine region, and which, in addition, is the only private chapel in Lower Saxony. |
| For over 30 years Nowak invited his friends of fine arts twice a year to this location to wellattended exihibitions, to studio visits, chapel concerts and numerous festivities, and in this location his daughter Annette Wolters opened up a gallery. Every year a christmas market is organised, widely known for its romantic atmosphere. |
| After his death in 1996 the "Malerhof" still remained a centre of attraction for many visitors, travelling by coach tours organized by the "Association for promoting tourism" (Verkehrsverein Peine) and by the "German Automobil Club" (ADAC) as well. Radio and television often report on the "Malerhof". |
